Directions: From northbound I-75: If traveling north on I-75, take Exit #279 and turn right onto Old 27 South (S. Otsego Ave.). Go 2.5 miles and turn right at the third light onto Grandview Blvd. The OCCOA office is located in the last building on the left at the end of the street. From southbound I-75 If traveling south on I-75, take Exit #282, and turn left onto Main St. (M-32). Turn right onto Wisconsin Ave. and follow the curve. At the light, continue going straight onto Grandview Blvd. The OCCOA office is located in the last building on the left at the end of the street. From southbound Old 27 N: If traveling south on Old 27 N, turn right onto Main St. (M-32), then left onto S. Menus are published each month and can be picked up at the office or any of the senior centers. I need assistance in my home. Can you help? Our agency provides home-delivered meals, homemaking, personal care services and respite care for older adults in Otsego County. You may schedule an appointment with the Medical Resources Coordinator, who will meet with you to determine the level of services for which you might qualify. Home-delivered meals can be started for homebound older adults the next delivery day after you first speak with a customer service representative with an assessment to be conducted within 12 business days. My mother lives alone and is feeling isolated. What kinds of programs or activities do you provide for older adults? OCCOA offers a wide variety of social activities, educational programs, and exercise programs. The agency also operates the Otsego Haus, an adult day facility that provides activities, meals, and socialization for older adults. OCCOA publishes a monthly Activities Calendar on this website. Also available at the business office, the calendar lists events, dates, and times of activities sponsored by OCCOA and other community groups for older adults. What kinds of social activities do you offer? The agency offers a wide variety of social activities, including fitness programs, trips and dances. They are posted in the previously-mentioned monthly Activities Calendar. Detailed information can be obtained by contacting the Special Events Coordinator at (989) 732-1122. How might I volunteer my time? OCCOA has a volunteer program that offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups of all ages. To volunteer or learn more, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (989) 732-1122. My wife was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. What kinds of services do you offer? The Otsego Haus is an adult day services program sponsored by OCCOA. To determine whether or not the Otsego Haus is a viable option, you may schedule an assessment meeting with our Otsego Haus Coordinator. The agency also offers an Alzheimer’s Caregivers’ Support Group the third Saturday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the University Center in Gaylord. Respite is offered at Otsego Haus during the Support Group. My father has Parkinson’s Disease. Do you offer any kind of support services for people living with Parkinson’s Disease? For those who qualify, the Otsego Haus accepts clients living with Parkinson’s Disease. To determine whether or not the Otsego Haus is a viable option, you may schedule an assessment meeting with our Otsego Haus Coordinator. The agency also offers a Parkinson’s Support Group, usually on the fourth Thursday of every month, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Pastoral Center, 611 W. North Street in Gaylord. Both caregivers and loved ones living with Parkinson’s Disease are encouraged to attend. |
